Modesty in the clean and jerk?

It takes every conceivable kind of fruit and nut to make the chaos trail mix that we call the United States of America 2011. In this case it’s a 35 year old female phd. Pakistani immigrant who wants to be a powerlifter when she grows up.

Problem is, the regulations require that in competition one must wear the approved bare arms and legs uniform and our girl here has a problem with that:

Needless to say she has found no shortage of lawyers and advocates to take the system to court and change the rules so that little miss modesty can do exactly as she pleases because apparently her religious tradition takes precedence over the traditions of the sport of powerlifting which nobody seemed to have any heartburn with until now.  This is the same religious tradition mind you, that in a muslim country would have forbidden her from lifting weights or getting a black belt or a phd. or even entering a mosque for that matter. 

So, to hell with  ‘seperation-of-church-and-state’ ! To Hell with all these archaic rules made up by white guys who just wanted to keep everybody down!  Let us have nuns in full habit in the NFL and cowled monks swimming in the olympics and sikhs boxing in their turbans!

I wonder if the opponent will be charged with a hate crime for knocking it off his head?

White Male Genocide

Amazing how every photo op with the Commander in Cheif talking with a ‘random sampling’ of ‘soldiers’ turns out to resemble a slice of diversity pie. One would think that all demographic groups were well represented within our military.

Take a look at the one white guy in the rear, on his feet and nearly hidden by Obies big (and getting bigger) head.

According to Ms. Fischer, of the nearly 5,700 killed in action 5,540 have been males and of those, 4200 have been white males.

…Shows that while whites in the military are proportionately represented, blacks are overrepresented.  That being the case and with the racial makeup of the country as a whole in mind, you would think that somebody other that white guys would be demanding their equal right to be killed in action.

I’ve always wondered how the grim and grimy reality of the Whitechapel murders of Jack The Ripper morphed into the sanitized, Hollywood revision of evening wear, handlebar moustaches, tophats and rosy-cheeked-petticoated-bustled young tarts.

Of course I can’t attest to the appearance of the killer but the victims are quite another case. Those women were rough to a degree that would scare the hell out of the most seasoned streetwalker living today.  They were emaciated, sallow, diseased and toothless. They wore mens boots and lived in their clothes for weeks, even months on end without bathing. Except for Mary Kelly, they were in their mid to late 40’s. They subsided on gin and ‘bloaters’, went without sleep for days at a time and had random, unprotected sexual contact with men who were probably filthier than they were.

Their life stories weren’t penny dreadfuls but tales of absolute horror and it may seem callous and heartbreaking, but their deaths were likely inadvertant acts of mercy.

Going forward, don’t think Heather Graham or Eliza Dolittle or Mary Poppins…Think a 50ish Amy Winehouse with rickets and a touch of scurvey.
